With a month to go before the Oasis tour, Manchester has unsurprisingly been crowned the most ‘Mad fer it’ city in the UK with 44% of locals claiming to be fans of the band. Now, thanks to Flaming Grill, pubgoers in Salford can order a beer and a barnet, just like their heroes, as barbers will be ready to give Oasis-inspired haircuts at the bar.
How Oasis fans can get free Gallagher-style haircuts
The ‘Mad fer it’ event will be taking place this Friday 27th June, from 6pm at The Royal Sovereign, Salford, where locals can get a free Gallagher-style haircut at the bar with their pint.
There are many diehard fans in the city though, as nearly 1 in 5 (17%) think Liam Gallagher would make a great prime minister and a further 1 in 5 (20%) think Wonderwall should be the national anthem, according to a recent poll from Flaming Grill. So getting Oasis haircuts doesn’t seem too far off the money…
The most Oasis-mad UK cities
- Manchester: 44%
- London: 44%
- Sheffield: 42%
- Bristol: 40%
- Norwich: 39%
- Leeds: 39%
- Birmingham: 38%
- Belfast: 36%
But not everyone is feeling the buzz, as half (49%) of Manchester thinks it would be hilarious if the brothers actually split up again before the tour and, 1 in 5 (21%) are already sick of hearing about the band. Plus, nearly a third (30%) of residents say they’d rather be bald than have an Oasis style haircut…
The research also found that nearly 1 in 10 (8%) of Mancunians would actually rather the Cheeky Girls reunite than Oasis and 1 in 5 (20%) would rather see the Backstreet Boys back together than the Burnage Boys of Liam & Noel.
As such, the pub chain will also be putting on events in cities where Oasis fatigue is at its peak (Newcastle and Plymouth), and will roll out ‘meh for it‘ zones, barring Wonderwall singers and exiling Liam look-alikes to the carpark.

William Botterill, Head of Marketing at Greene King, said: “Love them or loathe them, everyone has a view on Oasis, and we wanted to get involved with our customers’ debates in our pubs this summer.
“We’re not just serving pints to a nation at musical odds this July – we’re giving locals a pub that matches their views – whether they want to embrace or escapist wase Oasis’ tour season this summer. Whichever camp you’re in, our events will make the perfect battleground, or bonding ground, for mates across Summer.”
Limited edition cocktails across both camps will also be on offer – Definitely May-Tea and Don’t Look Back in Jam-ger – serving up a taste of nostalgia, or sweet relief, depending on your Gallagher tolerance.
Free Oasis haircuts will be available this Friday 27th June from 6pm at The Royal Sovereign, Salford.
