NQ64 has become a Manchester favourite since its opening in 2019, and now the gaming bar has a competition for you. Racers start your engines as NQ64 has teamed up with canned gin company Original Long Drink to host a Mario Kart Double Dash competition, with goody bags, NQ64 vouchers, and free booze and pizza up for grabs.
In an Instagram post NQ64 said: “We’ll be pitching everyone head to head on time trials on Mario Kart Double Dash, which should really separate the wheat from the chaff. Prizes include Original Long Drink goody bags (with drinks and merch!), bar tabs and MEDALS. There’s a little something for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.”
The event will take place at NQ64’s Northern Quarter branch from 6pm on Monday 23rd January, and places to compete will be given on a first come first served basis, which you can claim by direct messaging their Instagram account, @nq64mcr. Free pizza will be provided throughout the night to all attendees, courtesy of Franco Manca, and free drinks will be dished out by co-hosts Original Long Drink. NQ64 do warn, however, that places are limited and free booze and pizza is while stocks last.
Most importantly, the aim of the competition is to have fun, and anyone can enter, you don’t have to be a die-hard gamer, and with Mario Kart being one of the more accessible video games out there, you’re guaranteed to have a great time.
NQ64 is a den filled with gaming nostalgia featuring a whole roster of retro favourites, including famous games Mortal Kombat, Pac Man, Street Fighter II, Tekken and newer classics such as Guitar Hero. If that wasn’t enough, the uber-cool spot also has its very own Sega Mega Drive, Super Nintendo, N64 and an original Playstation, as well as gaming-themed cocktails such as Princess Peach, the Mad Max and the Root Beer Tapper to sip on.
The Mario Kart gaming competition will take place on January 23 at the NQ64 Northern Quarter venue, located at 9 Short St, M4 1AA.
