It’s well known that the iconic Salford Lads Club is suffering dark times, and even more well known how much locals love this place. Now, a guitar owned by Noel Gallagher will be auctioned off to help the fight to save Salford Lads Club, following its inclusion in an Oasis exhibition at the Club in June.
The autographed Cherry Hofner Verythin was used during Noel’s time with Oasis for studio recordings, and has an estimate of £4,000 to £8,000. Bidding will end this Friday 15 November, and it’s hoped 20% of the total selling price will go the the club which needs to raise £250,000 before the end of this month to stay open.
Salford Lads Club will also be putting on an exhibition of Manchester Music on November 23 and 24 to raise money for the Club, from 12pm – 5pm both days, and donations can be made on the door. In collaboration with Bitter Sweet Home, the Club has also arranged a Q&A for Sunday 24th November at 6pm hosted by the legendary John Robb, interviewing Tony McCaroll, Oasis drummer and founding member.
Salford Lads Club has so far raised £225,000, with any additional funds received over the £250,000 threshold being pledged towards a legacy fund for the club which will help with any ongoing costs and community projects in future. With so much support from the music community in Manchester, we’re pretty hopeful Salford Lads Club will live to fight another day, and with this recent contribution from Noel Gallagher, the Club is that much closer.
Tickets for the Q&A event are here, with all the proceeds once again going to Salford Lads Club. Noel Gallagher’s guitar is being auctioned here.
