Manchester Steak Restaurant Hawksmoor Gave A Customer A £4,500 Bottle Of Wine By Mistake

A lucky diner was accidentally given a £4,500 bottle of red wine at a fancy steakhouse in Manchester.

A member of staff at Hawksmoor, an upmarket chain specialising in steaks and seafood, allegedly served the luxury wine by accident in what management described as a ‘one-off mistake’.

A tweet posted on the Hawksmoor Manchester Twitter account read:

“To the customer who accidentally got given a bottle of Chateau le Pin Pomerol 2001, which is £4,500 on our menu, last night – hope you enjoyed your evening!

“To the member of staff who accidentally gave it away, chin up! One-off mistakes happen and we love you anyway.”

Following up with a photo of the two bottles of wine to show easily the bottles were mixed up.

Twitter users were quick to share a host of hilarious responses to the tweet. One user implied that he was the diner in question, claiming the high-end wine was only enjoyable after mixing it with ice and lemonade.

Another asked the restaurant to share the name of the employee to ‘help’ with future mistakes, saying:

“I think it makes sense at this point for Hawksmoor to confirm the name and shift pattern of this employee so we can all go and ensure that we help correct any further errors of this nature.”

Others were quick to praise the company for their handling of the situation, with one Twitter user calling the company ’employer goals.’
