A number of restaurants and curry houses in Greater Manchester have been named among the best at the Nation’s Curry Awards 2025. Taking place earlier this week, eight dining spots from across the region received prizes including ‘Outstanding Curry of the Year’ and ‘Customer’s Choice Takeaway of the Year’, to name a few.
Each year, the Nation’s Curry Awards recognise and celebrate the talent and hard work of the individuals and businesses that make up the UK’s curry industry. Now in its third year, the awards shone a light on a host of restaurants across the country including some in Greater Manchester which came out top in categories spanning Best of Manchester, Afghani, Nepalese, and Sri Lankan Restaurant of the Year, as well as Vegetarian Restaurant of the Year. The top prize, Curry Restaurant of the Year, was awarded to Alessi Indian Restaurant in Stoke-on-Trent.
Much-loved and award-winning Didsbury restaurant Original Third Eye received the award of ‘Best of Manchester’ at the 2025 event. The Original Third Eye in Didsbury Village first opened in 2000 and is one of Didsbury’s longest-running restaurants with a menu that offers a fusion of Indian, Nepalese and even some Chinese influences.
In a Facebook post announcing their win, the Original Third Eye owners said: “What a way to celebrate 25 incredible years of serving delicious Nepalese & Indian cuisine. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without our amazing team, our dedicated family, and the incredible support from our loyal customers.
However Original Third Eye wasn’t the only Didsbury restaurant to take home a prize as The Great Kathmandu was awarded ‘Nepalese Restaurant of the Year’. Elsewhere, the ‘Outstanding Curry of the Year’ award went to Aroma Lounge in Wigan and Little Lanka in Stockport won the prize of ‘Sri Lankan Restaurant of the Year’.
