This season brings hues of yellows, reds, browns and oranges (of course) and what says Autumn more than bright orange pumpkins? This month, one farm in the North West (and just an hour’s drive from Manchester city centre) is hosting an entire festival dedicated to the seasonal vegetable.
Providing an Instagrammable, picture perfect autumnal adventure this October, Mrs Dowsons Farm Park near Blackburn is getting us in the autumn spirit. The farm’s pumpkin festival features three acres of homegrown pumpkins plus 12 rare imported varieties from teeny tiny squash to the weird and wonderful, as well as new characters and new autumn activities, to make for a great day out.
Slip on your wellies, explore the pumpkin patch, and pick your own perfect pumpkin, fresh from the farm and grown across the UK. Each ticket includes one pumpkin to take home with you to either carve or make a pumpkin dish with. Need more? You can purchase extra pumpkins at the patch too.
Make lasting memories at Mrs Dowsons Farm Park by taking the perfect Instagrammable photo at one of their picture-perfect photo opportunities. And what’s a farm without animals? Explore the farm, discover the new barns and meet your favourite farmyard animals, all of which is included with your ticket.
Mrs Dowsons Farm Park is also offering an adults-only Pumpkin Night on October 16th. Grab a hot chocolate with Baileys and meander through the paddocks full of sleeping animals into the forest before stumbling across to the homegrown pumpkin patch glowing by the light of the festoon. Grab your pumpkins before heading back to the courtyard, indulging in some food and watching the stars around the fire pits.
Plus if you can’t enough of pumpkins, the farm is offering plenty of autumnal-themed food and drink. Choose from the likes of pumpkin pizza, pumpkin pie punch and pumpkin, apple and ale hot dog.
Known for its homemade ice cream, the family-run dairy farm uses milk from its own cows to create delicious, refreshing desserts using no artificial ingredients or flavours. For those looking to sample the famous sweet treat, Mrs Dowsons ice cream parlour and café will be offering seasonal specials like pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pie ice cream, cinnamon ice cream and pumpkin spice blondie across the Pumpkin Festival.
