Renting and buying a house in the Manchester area can be pretty tough, and even if you venture out of the city centre, the prices can still be steep depending on where you look. New analysis from property website Rightmove has identified the most expensive streets in the UK to buy a home on, with one in Greater Manchester.
The most expensive street in Greater Manchester
Taking 14th place as one of the most expensive streets in the UK to buy a property outside of London is currently Chapel Lane in Hale Barns, Trafford. According to Rightmove, you will find properties on this street costing around £1,979,000 on average. So, you might need to save your pennies a little more to live on that one…
Just a stone’s throw away from Manchester Airport for holidays and business trips, and the M56 for commuting, the most expensive street in Greater Manchester is also close to several golf clubs. In Hale Barns, you’ll find The Bull’s Head pub, a supermarket, various cafes and boutiques, as well as good schools and Zero Gravity Float Spa, to name a few of the amenities.
However, the priciest street in the North West went to Congleton Road in Cheshire East, with house prices at a whopping £3,323,500, making it the third most expensive street outside of London.

Britain’s most expensive street
Luckily for Mancs though, it seems the English capital city is where the majority of the most expensive streets in the UK are located. Topping the leaderboard as the most costly corner of the country is Winnington Road in Hampstead, London. Snapping up the first place position for the second year on the trot, the north London street boasts an average house price of – drum roll, please… £12,538,095.
