As we exit one long three-week stint of no trams on many lines here in Manchester, we brace to enter a weekend of tram works on another line. From Saturday 15 until Friday 28 August, track renewal works will take place on the Rochdale line, with the below service changes in place:
- On Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August only, no trams will operate between Victoria and Rochdale Town Centre.
- From Monday 17 to Friday 28 August, no trams will run between Oldham Mumps and Rochdale Town Centre.
A replacement bus service will operate between the affected stops. Tram tickets are only accepted on the replacement bus and will not be accepted on numbered bus services.
Manchester town hall works
Works will also be taking place at Manchester town hall on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August. As a result, tram services will not operate via Exchange Square.
Tram services will resume from the start of service on Saturday 29 August.

Saturday 15 August only
- Bury – Piccadilly
- Bury – Altrincham (peak service at 9am to 6.30pm)
- Altrincham – Etihad Campus
- Ashton-under-Lyne – Eccles (via MediaCityUK)
- Deansgate-Castlefield – East Didsbury (via Market Street and Shudehill)
- Manchester Airport – Victoria
- Trafford Centre – Crumpsall (via Market Street and Shudehill)
No trams from Victoria – Rochdale Town Centre/ No trams via Exchange Square.
Sunday 16 August only
Services will operate every 15 minutes:
- Bury – Piccadilly
- Altrincham – Etihad Campus
- Ashton-under-Lyne – Eccles
- Deansgate-Castlefield – East Didsbury
- Manchester Airport – Victoria
- Trafford Centre – Crumpsall (via Market Street and Shudehill)
No trams from Victoria – Rochdale Town Centre/ No trams via Exchange Square.
Monday to Saturday
- Bury – Piccadilly
- Bury – Altrincham (peak service at 9am to 6.30pm)
