The temperature is slowly but surely plummeting, and across the city, Mancs are reaching for their knitwear and attempting to resist the urge to whack up the thermostat. It can only mean one thing, folks: we’re getting into the thick of winter. And a sprinkling of snow could be heading back to Manchester again.
Although it was slightly disappointing to not get a white Christmas, and for the temperatures to be so high, it seems as the New Year goes on, we’re going to be getting more than a little dusting of snow in Manchester, and all over the UK.

When will it snow in Manchester?
Of course, we’ve already had some snow over the weekend in our region, but looking further ahead to tonight (Monday 6 January) into Tuesday 7 January, the Met Office said: “Further wintry showers and icy stretches overnight, primarily for Merseyside, Manchester and Cheshire. Prolonged clear periods elsewhere, under which a frost likely forming. Blustery around coasts and hills. Minimum temperature -3 °C.

“Sunny spells and scattered showers, mixing rain, sleet, snow and hail. Showers tending to fade later as winds also ease. Cold, with a widespread and locally severe frost overnight. Maximum temperature 5 °C.” Given this forecast, there is a yellow weather warning for snow and ice in place for Tuesday 7 January.
WXCharts shows that snow is likely in Greater Manchester at different points during Tuesday 7 January, heading up over Lancashire and over to Merseyside and Cheshire.

Snow is then set to return, according to WXCharts, overnight from Monday 13 – Tuesday 14 January, where heavy snow will blanket most of the west of the country, including Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire and Cumbria. So if you’ve not had enough of the snow yet, you’ve got something to look forward to!
Of course, we’ll be keeping you up to date as the forecast changes but as always, take care out there and remember to check before you travel.
