The temperature is slowly but surely plummeting, and across the city, Mancs are reaching for their knitwear and attempting to resist the urge to whack up the thermostat. It can only mean one thing, folks: winter is on its way. And a sprinkling of snow could be heading back to Manchester again.
As we know, this week saw Manchester dusted with the white stuff as temperatures plummeted earlier than normal. If you’ve been outside recently, you’ll notice it isn’t getting any warmer, and with those freezing temperatures comes another weather warning for snow, ice and rain.
According to WXCharts, the snow will make a return to Manchester on Saturday 23 November, bringing a spot of pre-Christmas joy to the North West before December even hits.
On Saturday, snow is forecast to move over Manchester in the early hours, sticking around from 6am until around 9am, turning to rain as the day goes on. The Met Office has also issued a yellow weather warning for snow and rain for the weekend, covering the Peak District, north of Manchester and Lancashire and across Yorkshire. With this in mind, do take care when out and about and check before you travel on these days.
Of course, the next question that comes to mind is: is it too early to be talking about a white Christmas?
Will we get a white Christmas in Manchester?
The simple answer is: we don’t know just yet. It’s too soon to have a forecast for over a month’s time, but Accuweather does have some general predictions for December. In Manchester, precipitation is predicted for 11 days in the month, with lows of between 1°C and 5°C, so although there’s no explicit indication of snow at Christmas in Manchester, rain and almost freezing temperatures does tend to equal the white stuff.
We’ll be keeping you updated as we get closer to the time, so you never know, there could still be snow at Christmas in Manchester…
