A Manchester Arts Centre Will Host An Immersive Screening Of The Witches

The good people at Make A Scene film club will celebrate Roald Dahl day with a special screening of every morbid child’s favourite Dahl story, The Witches.

The self-described ‘big gay film club’ prides itself on creating a fun, communal film watching experience for the LGBTQ community and their allies, and promise an engaging experience teeming with real-life witches (well…drag queens) with a visit from the Grand High Witch herself!

The screening will see the Z-Arts arts centre in Hulme transformed into The Excelsior Hotel with cakes, afternoon tea, sparkling cocktails and cress soup to immerse audience members in the story.

Two screenings will take place on September 15, a family-friendly matinee, for children aged eight and over, and a ‘much ruder’ evening show for over eighteens only.

A spokesman for Make A Scene Film Club said:

“Expect chocolate, potions, spells and mice plus Afternoon Tea themed food, cocktails, mocktails for the kids, sweets, cakes, crafting, workshops and a bootcamp on how to spot real-life witches.

“Families are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite Roald Dahl characters, we would love to see adults coming for the evening showing to come dressed as the worst witches they can, bad wigs, bad suits and all…think Theresa May!

“This is going to be a really special day and the perfect tribute to one of Roald Dahl’s most enduring and twisted creations!”
