Alas, summer is now officially over, the long nights are definitely winding down, and to mark the occasion, Manchester will experience its last 7pm sunset of 2025 tonight. With shorter and darker days ahead, all we can do is reminisce over those warm nights dining al fresco and soak up that extra dose of sunshine before we cosy up under a blanket.
Since March 30, we’ve enjoyed the glow of the Manchester sun after 7pm every day, but on the final full week of September that finally comes to an end. According to data from Time and Date, the sun will go down at 7.02pm on September 24, making it the last sunset after 7pm of the year for Manchester. On the following evening (September 25), Manchester will enjoy a measly 6.59pm sunset, fittingly during the first few days of Autumn.

But when will the next 7pm sunset in Manchester be? You might not want to look away from your screen now… Sadly, you’ll have to wait until March 29, 2026, so be sure to make use of those late sunsets before they fade away. Sunsets have technically been getting earlier since the end of June, but this, alongside the drop in temperature (where did the 6ºC mornings come from?) feels like the first wake-up call to the shorter days that lie ahead and run until spring next year.
The last 6pm sunset of year for Manchester will be on October 20, and before you know it, the last 5pm sunset of the year will take place on October 26. The sun may be setting earlier, but maybe it’s time to embrace those crisp, cool mornings, the leaves turning to shades of yellow, orange, and red. Plus, it won’t be long before we get that extra hour in bed come late October.
