The sun is officially back, and the beer gardens are calling our name. We got overexcited a few weeks ago when the sun reared its head, only to be followed by rain, wind and an unseasonable drop in temperatures, but now it would seem that big ray of light is set to stay for a bit longer – making Manchester even hotter than LA this week, if you can believe it.
Temperatures in Manchester are set to soar as this week goes on, peaking initially at around 18°C on Thursday 3rd April, even hotter than LA which is set to reach 17°C on the same day – HA! It’ll stay pleasant here in Manchester into the weekend, if giving way to a slight drop in temperature, but things will definitely be feeling springy into next week.
The Met Office says from today: “Plenty of warm sunshine, especially so in sheltered spots where winds will be light. Maximum temperature 15 °C. […] Staying dry and fine this evening with light winds. Feeling rather chilly beneath clear skies, though most places remaining frost free”
Turning noticeably warmer during the week, the Met Office continues: “Widely dry and fine with plenty of long, sunny spells. Light winds at first, though becoming breezy along the coast later. Feeling warm in the sunshine.
And for Wednesday to Friday: “High pressure continues to bring widely dry and fine conditions this week. Plenty of warm sunshine by day, but chillier by night. Light winds inland, but breezier along the coast.”
Looking to the second half of April, the Met Office predicts: “Weather patterns are most likely to remain fairly slow-moving through the second half of April. High pressure may remain centred to the north or east of the UK, potentially bringing more fine and dry weather. However, there may also be some interludes of rain or showers, these perhaps more likely to affect southern and western parts of the UK.”
Although we may see some April showers, temperatures are set to be above average overall, so hopefully we can look forward to a proper spring here in Manchester – take that, LA! Grab an ice cream, a pint, or plan a trip to the beach, because we don’t know ho long it’ll last.
