The family-friendly Macclesfield Festival will be taking over Priory Park this Saturday.
With the seemingly endless stretch of the school holidays ahead, you may be scrambling for some plans to keep the youngsters amused. Well, you can check this Saturday off your list because Macclesfield Festival will do all the work for you; with children’s entertainers, fairground rides and live music to keep them busy over the course of the day.
When hunger strikes there’s a wide range of stomach-rumbling food stalls to suit even the most discerning young palate. Plus, this is the perfect opportunity to steer the kids to a spot by the main stage so you can listen to one of the uncanny tribute acts while the little ones happily munch away. Just make sure to leave some time for the food to settle before jumping on the Ferris wheel or swinging by the dance tent to bust some moves.
As well as tribute bands for Oasis, The Smiths and Kasabian, there will be DJ sets from radio personality Clint Boon and Happy Mondays’ duo Bez and Rowetta. You might need to bribe the children with face painting or pony rides if you want to catch these stars doing their thing. Luckily, the festival’s Kids Area has both of those, not to mention zorbing, an inflatable zone and a giant funfair. By the time you’ve clambered out of a dodgem after a heart-bumping bounce around the enclosure it will be you that’s begging not to leave.
The kids don’t get to have all the fun. When night closes in and the children are blissfully tucked up in bed, adults looking to dance until the early hours can just follow the pulsing music spilling from the Clubhouse, open until 3am. Just make sure to buy the Afterparty tickets in advance.
