Stumbling right from the beer garden to bed in one minute or less… Is that not every Mancs dream? If you ask us, it definitely is, and now – it’s a dream come true.
Sitting pretty on the Rochdale Canal, Castlefield, The Lock Keepers Cottage is the perfect spot for a staycation in the city, providing some of the best of Manchester right on its doorstep – particularly in the summer months.
Less than a stone’s throw away from the popular Dukes 92 bar, the cottage retreat provides the best of both worlds – with the idyllic scenes of the sparkling canal water at guest’s disposal, and some of the city’s best bars and restaurants just a matter of metres away. Next door, the modern-yet-cosy Albert’s Shed provides the perfect setting for a lovely dinner by the water, whereas neighbouring Dukes 92’s epic beer garden is the place to be for beers with the squad.
If that wasn’t all, the cottage is just a short walk to the local tram and train station, with Deansgate, Spinningfields and Central Manchester within walking distance, too – making it the perfect stay for those after a boozy weekend exploring Manchester’s many bars and restaurants.
Inside, the property is just as impressive as its location, with stunning period features running throughout, and a beautiful, glass-roofed open kitchen with ample seating for catching up over breakfast after a night on the town.
Elsewhere in the property – which was originally built in the 1800s – guests can enjoy a number of original features, including cosy fireplaces and stained glass features that reflect the cottage’s position by the last lock on the Rochdale Canal (which is also what Dukes 92 is named after!).
Providing room enough for five to sleep, the warming cottage welcomes both groups of five and couples alike, with plenty of space for entertaining and even a gorgeous garden that guests can enjoy during the warmer days, drink in hand. Naturally, parties are prohibited within the property, however, when you’re feeling a bit livelier, you’re only a stumble away from a cold beer tap or bottle of vino at Dukes.
