The West End Girl is finally here. After seven years away from touring, brit nominated Lily Allen is officially back in Manchester tonight with one of the most talked-about albums of the past six months — maybe the hottest gossip album ever? Having already kicked off the tour in Glasgow, she debuted a dress made from receipts of things her ex-husband, David Harbour, allegedly bought for another woman. The album. The set. The pettiness. We are so here for all of it.
For the first half of the show, the talented Dallas Minor Trio takes to the stage. The string trio performs some of her most recognisable bangers in a karaoke-style set designed to get the crowd in the mood. After all, isn’t everyone just waiting to sing “f**k you” at the top of their lungs? Based on reviews, it certainly gets the audience going. For those craving more of this kind of cathartic performance, Candlelight concerts host a series dedicated to reimagined versions of your favourite songs.
