Roger Waters is teaming up with his son Harry for a new tour celebrating Pink Floyd’s music, with the production set to revisit the band’s acclaimed “golden era”.
Roger Waters and son Harry team up for Pink Floyd legacy tour
Titled Legacy – A Pink Floyd Show, the tour will feature Harry and his 10-piece band performing songs from the group’s albums released between 1971 and 1979.
Roger Waters, 83, will direct the show, while Harry, 49, will act as musical director and lead the band on B3 organ, piano and vocals.
Pink Floyd classics revisited
The production will feature selections from four of Pink Floyd’s most celebrated albums: ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ (1973), ‘Wish You Were Here’ (1975), ‘Animals’ (1977) and ‘The Wall’ (1979).
Organisers say the show will aim to recreate the original recordings as closely as possible, offering audiences a chance to hear the music performed live once again.
“These songs have meant so much to so many people for so many years and I’m excited for audiences to come together and experience them live again,” Roger Waters said.
“Harry has assembled a terrific band and I can’t wait for fans around the world to see the special show we’ve created together.”
A family musical collaboration
For Harry Waters, the production marks a new chapter in a musical relationship with his father that has developed over several decades.
Growing up surrounded by Pink Floyd’s music, he said it formed part of a much wider musical education before becoming something he loved in its own right.
“I fell in love with the music immediately,” Harry said. “It really had an impact on me, irrespective of any bias because it was dad’s music. I still love it deeply to this day.”
He added: “Collaborating with dad on this new production is such an honour and I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to bring this music to fans old and new, around the world.”
