Pumpkin season is well and truly rearing its head, and we couldn’t be more delighted. Bring on the ghouls, the crunchy leaves and of course, all the pumpkin carving, but first – you’ll have to pick a pumpkin to bring home. One such place where you can find this and more is Kenyon Hall Farm in Warrington, which offers so much more than just a pumpkin patch.
Kenyon Hall Farm is just a 30-minute drive from Manchester, on Winwick Lane between Leigh and Warrington. An award-winning, family-run farm shop, cafe, plant centre and play area, Kenyon Hall Farm offers something for everyone, and come pumpkin season, this spot really comes into its own.

When can I pick pumpkins?
Kicking off a little earlier this year on 27th September, the farm will be ready to welcome back guests to their pumpkin patches in time for PYO pumpkin season. The patch is open between 9.15am – 4pm, Monday-Friday from 29th September, and slots are in 15-minute intervals – you can book here. Weekend slots are now sold out, but you may have a chance of getting last-minute cancellation tickets if you keep checking back.
How big is Kenyon Hall Farm pumpkin patch?

The patch is pretty spectacular, with a variety of sizes and colours to pick from – and this time there’s over 20,000 to choose from. The farm where the pumpkins grow is over 500 acres, so there’s plenty of room to roam, pick your perfect gourds, and snap some seasonal photos.
How does pumpkin picking work at Kenyon Hall Farm?
Guests at Kenyon Hall Farm get to run about with a wheelbarrow while picking their perfect pumpkins, load them in, and take them home – simple as that! You won’t need to actually harvest the pumpkins, so don’t worry, not much blood, sweat, and tears will need to go into it, just spy your favourites and transfer from the mud to your barrow – that’s not to say you won’t get muddy, so bring appropriate footwear and coats for the weather!

Tickets do not include a pumpkin, so just bring your haul to the till at the end, and the team will ring up your spooky shopping.
There will also be professional photographers around on particular dates, so families can have gorgeous seasonal photoshoots amongst the pumpkins, squashes, and hay bales. The photographers will be available on the following days:
- Sat 27th September
- Sun 28th September
- Fri 3rd October
- Sun 5th October
- Fri 10th October
- Sun 12th October

The Maize Maze
Roll up, roll up… the Maize Maze at Kenyon Hall Farm is open too, with this year’s circus theme. Navigate the winding paths as you hunt for the stilt-walking scarecrow, sunflower plate-spinner, and other circus characters. If pumpkin picking isn’t enough for you, why not try the Maize Maze for harvest family fun?

The Maize Maze is suitable for all ages, making it the perfect family activity. It takes 20-30 minutes to complete, with five characters to find (and no clowns). Entrance costs £3.95 per person, with discounts for families, and it’s free for infants under 18 months.
The maze is open every day until Sunday 14th September. Advanced bookings are not required during September – just come between 9.30am – 4pm and pay at the entrance to enter.
What else is there at Kenyon Hall Farm?
Aside from picking your own root goods and getting lost in the maze, there’s plenty more to get involved with. The Plant Centre makes it easy to pick up your next landscaping find or hanging basket, the fruit and veg field is also open to pick seasonal produce alongside your pumpkins, and the Junior Farmers Club allows young visitors to develop their green fingers and get stuck in learning about food, farming and the environment.
