JD Sports has opened its biggest store ever at the Trafford Centre in Greater Manchester to huge fanfare and massive queues. Since opening its first store in Bury, Greater Manchester in 1981, JD has remained one of the most renowned sports fashion and lifestyle retailers.
The launch of the new JD flagship store at the Trafford Centre, the biggest shopping centre in the North West, turned some heads with the brand’s largest ever store front. As shoppers step inside, they’ll find the hottest drops from global sportswear giants such as Nike, adidas, On Running and PUMA – plus JD brand exclusives from Unlike Humans and more.
You’ll also find a Crep Protect station, a Matt B Customs zone for customising your kicks, an adidas originals market, barber shop, gaming zone and self-serve machines inside the 42,000 sq ft store.
James Air, Director of Group Acquisitions at JD, commented on the opening: “This new store at Trafford Centre is set to be a true statement of intent. It’s our biggest, boldest space to date – and it’s happening in the city where our journey began. This is JD at its very best: fashion-forward, community-focused, and pushing the boundaries of retail. And JD’s opening at Trafford Centre isn’t just about creating a dynamic new shopping destination — it also brings new jobs to the area, reinforcing the brand’s ongoing investment in the local communities it serves, which is at the heart of JD’s mission.”
Simon Layton, Centre Director at Trafford Centre, said: “We’re incredibly proud to welcome the world’s largest JD to Trafford Centre. This mammoth, flagship store is a game-changer, not just for Manchester but for retail as a whole. With expert staff on hand, immersive displays and bespoke services, the new JD store will be a destination in its own right – promising an incredible in-store experience.”
Following the grand opening, the brand new JD store isn’t quieting down, with plenty going on this week. To really celebrate JD’s hometown, the brand launches Manchester adidas Originals Market — a space inside the store repping local creatives and homegrown talent. From its street style game to its ongoing impact on youth culture, JD is giving back to the community.
Amplifying Manchester’s legacy, the destination includes a range of unmissable gifts with purchase – first come, first served – including: 200 free matcha from Manchester’s Federal, spend £20+ on Adidas women’s products for a free flower bouquet from Frog MCR, spend £60+ on Adidas women’s products for a free A4 print @Holliegraphik. And not forgetting the lads, adidas Originals Barbers is giving away fresh trims when spending over £20+.
For those in need of hype hydration, grab a Stanley Cup and customise with Matt B Customs at the in-store personalisation workshop. And to keep things ultra chill, fan-favourite Unlike Humans’ iconic ice cream truck will be pulling up to serve JD matcha and vanilla mochi.
