Following the success of last year’s installation, the wintry domain of the Ice Village will return to Manchester’s Cathedral Gardens for Christmas 2019.
Set against a backdrop of snow-covered trees and twinkling lights, organisers are promising another magical village packed with wintery fun for the whole family.
The Ice Cavern
This year’s Ice Cavern will transport visitors to a fantastical domain: a distant realm of ice and snow, inhabited by legendary ice beasts including a unicorn, a griffin, and a massive dragon bathed in fire-red light. These mythical creatures guard the entrance to a frozen castle, its battlements and turrets all built from solid blocks of ice. Once inside the castle’s ice-block walls, enjoy a royal encounter!
The Ice Cavern is an interactive experience – guests will be able to touch the ice, sit in Ice Regal carriage, take a selfie ‘trapped’ in an ice block and battle with the huge ice dragon. Perfect for children, students and adults alike, the Ice Cavern is full of exciting mythical creatures and is a magical realm for all to enjoy.
The Frozen Tiki Bar
Older visitors will be able to take a trip to the village’s South Pacific themed icy paradise for an unforgettable frozen bar experience at -10 degrees! It’s the perfect place for a ‘chilled’ date night, a get together with friends or an alternative space for a work Christmas night out!
The bar will include amazing tropical sculptures including Easter Island ‘Moai’ ice statues, giant fruit and some funky interactive photo opportunities A free drink will be included with entrance to the Ice Tiki Bar so get ready to enjoy some yummy tropical cocktails
Ice Skating
Skate under the sun, moon, and stars this Winter at the enchanting Cathedral Gardens in Manchester. Whatever the weather, enjoy the festive season and skate at the new clear roofed ice rink at Cathedral Gardens, which promises an enchanting atmosphere for couples, families, and groups looking for some festive fun.
Santa’s Grotto
While Younger visitors (and the young at heart) will be able to take their wish lists and visit Santa in his Grotto. There will be plenty of photo opportunities available including a chance to sit on Santa’s special chair and every child will be given a small gift, handpicked by Santa himself, to take home.
