Back in September, Netflix graced us with the first series of the epic House of Guinness, from the creators of Peaky Blinders. The story followed the children of the head of the Guinness brewery after his death, navigating power, rebellion and scandal. Siblings Arthur (Anthony Boyle), Edward (Louis Partridge), Anne (Emily Fairn), and Ben (Fionn O’Shea) experience ecstatic highs and heartbreaking lows as they work to live up to their birthright of black gold.
All of this was wonderful enough, but add in that the production used the streets of Manchester for much of filming, and you’ve got a cracker that we cannot miss. Now, it has been confirmed by Netflix that Steven Knight’s decadent 19th-century Dublin drama returns for a second season, following the Guinness Family as they wrestle with ambition, intrigue and forbidden love.
Steven Knight, writer and creator of House of Guinness, said: “It was such a joy to bring the Guinness story to the screen, so I’m beyond thrilled to be continuing the story of one of the world’s greatest dynasties into season two. I can’t wait to dive deeper into these characters and their complex relationships as they expand the Guinness empire.”
Production is due to begin in early 2027, and with Manchester ever present in its filming, we wouldn’t be surprised to see film crews flocking to the city and surrounding areas once again.
Where could House of Guinness season two be filmed in Manchester?
Much of the Manchester filming was used in the first season as a stand in for the streets of 19th century New York, and with Guinness popularity picking up across the pond where we left the series, we’d expect to see the Northern Quarter in good use once again.
The likes of Heaton Hall, St Philip’s Church and Stockport‘s Underbank were also use frequently in the first season, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see those return to film sets too.
