FAC51 The Haçienda inspired a generation and came to lay the foundations for dance music culture as it is today. Following a series of annual events at the modern home of house music in Manchester, Depot Mayfield, FAC51 The Haçienda has announced another extensive all day club event across five rooms as it takes over the Depot on Saturday 2 December, with some legendary headliners and the very best international and FAC51 DJs.
Originally conceived, founded and financed by Factory Records and New Order, The Haçienda is credited as the birthplace of Acid House and responsible for shaping the face of the UK club scene – all of which, as Mancs, we know and are extremely proud of.
The ex-boat showroom on Whitworth Street West that became The Haçienda, and the cultural movements it gave birth to, went on to have one of the biggest impacts on youth culture since the punk movement and through the combination of legendary nights and DJs, it changed clubbing from simply a night out to an intense, revelatory experience.
With the spirit that characterised those heady days and still bringing together top class artists to celebrate the impact and influence of FAC51, this December’s Depot Mayfield event looks set to continue the very best traditions of The Haçienda.
A wide ranging and truly iconic selection of artists has once again been put together for this legendary event, with some eye-catching bookings including The Stone Roses’ godlike genius front man Ian Brown, gracing the event with his live show.
Techno legends Leftfield also bring their much-acclaimed live set to Depot Mayfield, which wowed Manchester over two sell out dates in May this year and has proved one of the highlights of Glastonbury, as well as the touring circuit in 2023.
Also playing live are legendary dance acts Inner City and Soul II Soul whilst Factory Records regulars A Certain Ratio, who are enjoying a recent resurgence, join the line-up.
As ever the event sees a mix of the very best international DJs alongside The Haçienda’s regulars. David Morales, Roger Sanchez, Dimitri From Paris, Todd Terry and Kevin Saunderson all return to FAC51, where each one has a longstanding relationship having played legendary sets at the original club.
In what is now a very rare appearance together, DJs Mike Pickering and Graeme Park join forces for a special back-to-back set, reuniting the team that have done so much to shape The Haçienda’s identity throughout its history.
Other incredible names at the Haçienda Depot Mayfield show include: Greg Wilson, DJ Paulette, Peter Hook, 808 State, K Klass, Justin Robertson, Jon Dasilva, Hewan Clarke, Tom Wainwright, Kath McDermott, Chad Jackson, Jason Boardman, Russ, Buckley, Guy Williams, Jason Boardman, James Holroyd, Herbie Saccani and Mark XTC – all of whom are returning characters to FAC51, playing across the venue’s cavernous warehouse style arenas.
On returning to Depot Mayfield in December, Peter Hook commented: “After a wonderful occasion last year and on our previous visits, we are delighted to reaffirm that The Haçienda’s lifelong legacy is still alive and kicking especially following our recent success dancing in the rain at Castlefield Bowl.”
Haçienda DJ Graeme Park added: “I’m already beyond excited about The Haçienda returning to Depot Mayfield this December. Last year’s event was absolutely epic and the line-up this time promises to make this another huge party. I’m also looking forward to DJing with Mike Pickering for the first time since April 2022. So come on then Manchester! You will not be disappointed.”
With all three of The Haçienda’s previous Depot Mayfield shows considered to be some of the best events of those years, FAC51 takes over The Warehouse Project’s five rooms with one of the finest line ups of this or any year.
Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday 28 July here.
