Greene King pubs is bringing a slice of Manchester’s legendary music scene to beloved city centre pub The Deansgate, with Shaun Ryder, Bez and Haçienda DJ Jon Dasilva hosting a free daytime rave… we’re not twisting your melon.
Taking place this Saturday (9 May) from 12pm–5pm, the event forms part of Greene King’s nationwide “Home at Your Local” campaign, which celebrates the role pubs play as a second home and brings communities together through a series of “pub warming parties” and live events taking place across the country throughout May.
The free event at The Deansgate will welcome guests on a first come, first served basis for an afternoon of music and entertainment inspired by Manchester’s iconic Haçienda era.
The activity follows a special pub quiz hosted by Two Pints Podcast stars Ralf Little and Will Mellor at The Albert Pub in London over the Bank Holiday weekend, which helped kick off the nationwide campaign.
The campaign comes as new research from Greene King pubs found that two in five (41%) Brits would pay up to 20% more to live near a great local pub. The pub company is also offering pubgoers the chance to make their favourite Greene King pub their official ‘second home’ through its Second Home Scheme, with selected winners receiving perks including free beer for a year.
