We all love a Greggs, whether it’s a classic pasty, a vegan sausage roll, or the moreish yum yums. Now Greggs has opened its first Greater Manchester outlet shop in Oldham, where you can get items made the day before for 50% off.
At the new Greggs Outlet shop in Tommyfield Market, Oldham, customers can get their hands on discounted sweet treats and savoury bakes alongside one another, with all produce being stocked together on shelves and in fridges, rather than a hot food counter. If you choose wisely, you could bag yourself a huge 70% off, and help the local community in the process, whilst you get to fill your boots with yum yums and pastries.
The Greggs Outlet in Oldham offers meat and vegan sausage rolls in packs of four for just £1.55, packs of two ‘bakes’ (chicken, steak, vegetable, cheese and onion, or sausage, bean and cheese melt) for £1.25, and baguettes and rolls are priced at £1.05, whilst sandwiches and boxes of doughnuts and yum yums are just 55p – a fraction of the price at your average Greggs.
All of Greggs’ food is made fresh daily, meaning at the end of each day, any food that hasn’t been sold is removed from its shelves, and to prevent food waste each store sends as much food as they can to their Outlet shops, where it is sold the next day at a discount.
Not only does the initiative aim to cut food waste but allows people in disadvantaged areas to enjoy their food at a huge discount, as Greggs target poorer areas to open their outlet shops. In addition, a portion of the profit generated from Greggs Outlets is donated to the Greggs Foundation, which is then shared between organisations such as soup kitchens, food banks, and community groups, putting money back into local community organisations that are working to tackle food poverty in areas of greatest need.
