Stockport‘s award-winning Simply Books has announced a pretty high profile upcoming event happening in Manchester this September: ‘Gordon Brown with Frank Cottrell-Boyce’.
‘Gordon Brown with Frank Cottrell-Boyce’ will offer attendees an exciting opportunity to hear from one of Britain’s most recognisable political names, in conversation with a former UK Children’s Laureate. The event will be held at New Century Hall, an iconic mid-century venue steeped in local history, located in the heart of Manchester City Centre’s NOMA district, used to hosting the likes of the Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix.
Taking place on Thursday 3rd September between 7.30-8.30 pm, Gordon will be drawing on his decades of experience in politics and years at the very heart of Parliament, revealing insights you won’t want to miss.

Frank Cottrell-Boyce
Frank Cottrell-Boyce has won the Carnegie Medal and the Guardian Children’s Fiction prize for his children’s book and recently served as UK Children’s Laureate. He’s also a screenwriter whose films include Welcome to Sarajevo, Hilary and Jackie, 24 Hour Party People, the Beautiful Game and Kensuke’s Kingdom.
He was part of the creative team for the 2012 London Olympic Opening Ceremony, and his most recent book is the non-fiction A British Childhood – telling the story of what it means to be young in modern Britain.
The event promises an unforgettable evening of insight and reflection from two of the biggest names in their professional sectors.
