Something to do during lockdown…
Need to absorb a little culture while you stare at the same four walls during the UK lockdown? Google’s free Arts and Culture app is here to help you stare at someone else’s (probably much prettier) walls!
As all theatres, galleries and museums close their doors to help protect staff and the public during the Coronavirus pandemic, the new app allows art fans to get their fix from the comfort of their own homes, with virtual tours and online exhibitions available to explore from both The Lowry and the National Football Museum. It’s a great way to explore our wonderful city while we’re all social distancing for the foreseeable future.
The Lowry has included most collections digitally, as well as a virtual tour of one of their galleries, while the National Football Museum offers up some online exhibitions including their FIFA World Cup in 24 Objects for fans to have a nosey at while the footy’s off. There’s also a ton of museums and galleries signed up to the app across the globe, including Paris’ Musee d’Orsay, The National Gallery in London and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
Check out the app here.
