Having already opened multiple branches in the North West including Didsbury, Wilmslow, Altrincham and Manchester city centre over the past year, Gail’s, the much-loved bakery from London, is at it again. Set to open a new spot in Sale this November, the branch will be the ninth northern location for Gail’s and its fourth Greater Manchester bakery too.
Situated on School Road in the south Manchester suburb of Sale and next door to pizza restaurant PizzAmmore, Gail’s will be serving up their signature artisan sourdough breads, pastries, sandwiches, and cakes alongside its specialty house blend coffee. Housed in the former Slater Heelis unit, the site is situated near to the Stanley Square shopping centre and Sale Town Hall and will be open from November 14.
The opening of Gail’s bakeries in the region reinforces its long-standing ties to the area following The Bread Factory, Gail’s sister-brand and wholesale bakery, opening their Manchester bakery in Openshaw in 2017. It has since supplied high quality, artisan breads to some of the region’s top local restaurants.
Gail’s is committed to improving the end-to-end food system and is also passionate about reducing waste and sourcing sustainably. The critically acclaimed Waste Not range of bread, pantry and pastry products are produced by incorporating by-product ingredients from food making processes, like off-cuts from dough and yesterday’s bread.
The bakery brand was started by Yael (Gail) Mejia in the early 1990’s serving top chefs and food venues in London. In 2003, Tom Molnar and a few friends joined Yael’s wholesale craft bakery and grew the business by opening modern neighbourhood craft bakeries that bring communities together to enjoy chef-quality baking, with the first Gail’s bakery opening in 2005 in Hampstead, London.
Gail’s has also just launched their autumn menu too, which includes seasonal treats including the Apple & Sesame Butter Cake, drizzled with sweet sesame butter and still made with only British apples through to a Mushroom & Caramelised Onion Quiche and Sage & Squash Slice.
Gail’s will open at 16 School Rd, Sale, M33 7XP from November 14.
