The perfect ways to celebrate Freedom Day next week.
Life is officially returning to normal after 16 months of witnessing what has to be the weirdest period of our lives, and if that isn’t something to celebrate, we have no idea what is. Dusted off your dancing shoes already in anticipation of the occasion? We’ve rounded up the very best Freedom Day events and parties to check out next week – from those that kick off as soon as the clock strikes midnight, to the more decorous of the bunch…
1. Let’s Start The Dance, Escape to Freight Island
Escape to Freight Island will be hosting one of the city’s first restriction-free parties next Monday, bringing a line-up of back-to-back Manchester DJ’s for guests to dance the night away alongside. The very special event will take place outdoors under the Manchester sunshine, and guests will be able to watch the sun go down while drinking and socialising – just like old times. Tickets here. Escape to Freight Island, 11 Baring St, M1 2PZ.
2. The Blues Kitchen
The Blues Kitchen will be opening its dance floor for the first time ever next weekend, kicking off Friday 23rd July with an epic night of resident DJs and live bands – who’ll be playing the very best of soul until 3am. The Concert Hall has proven incredibly popular since it opened just a couple of months ago, and we’re sure it’s going to be one of the highlights of the summer for Mancs seeking a good time. Get on the guestlist here. The Blues Kitchen, 13 Quay St, M3 3HN.

3. 90’s and 00’s Party, Gorilla
There was one tragic part of lockdown where we thought we’d lose Gorilla forever, but luckily for us Mancs, it’s back in action – with a new event prepped and ready for Freedom Day. Bringing the very best 90’s and 00’s hits to the dancefloor, guests can rediscover their (now rusty) moves at the grand re-opening party, kicking off at 10am til 3am. Better book Tuesday off… Get tickets here. Gorilla, 54-56 Whitworth St, M1 5WW.
4. China White
Planning an epic comeback after months away, Chinawhite will return the minute the clock strikes 00:01 on Monday 19th June, allowing guests to enjoy restriction-free life literally as soon as legally possible. Guests are invited to shed their lockdown attire and get a taste of normality once again, operating in the same way they did pre-Corona with tables, a packed dancefloor and a whole lot of dancing. Chinawhite, 244 Deansgate, M3 4BQ.
5. Club Liv
Lining up one hell of a reopening this Sunday night – or should I say Monday morning – at 00:01, Club Liv is returning for Freedom Day, with guestlist and reservations now open via their Instagram DMs. Guests will no doubt be partying their way to freedom like there’s no tomorrow, with DJs, dancing and proper club vibes in store – just like BC (before Corona…). Club Liv, 111A Deansgate, M3 2BQ.
6. Impossible
The Theatre of Impossible is finally reopening, with their first grand re-opening party taking place on Monday (almost sold out!) and a second taking place on Friday 23rd July. Party from 10pm til late and witness history in the making as Mancs celebrate the first night of freedom after 16 months restrictions, with tickets available here. Impossible, 36 Peter St, M2 5QR.
7. The Fiesta, Revolucion de Cuba
It’s been a long 16 months, but Revolucion de Cuba is bringing back its beloved event The Fiesta, celebrating Freedom Day the fun, Cuban way. Expect tasty cocktails, canapes, a host of live music and plenty of dancing. Revolucion de Cuba, 11 Peter St, M2 5QR.
8. Twosday, History Club
Officially reopening on Tuesday 20th July with an epic 2-4-1 drinks offer, History Club will be celebrating life after lockdown with their popular Twosday event – featuring some seriously great music, drinks sparklers galore, cocktails, champagne and a night of endless dancing. Get tickets here. History Club, Longworth St, M3 4BQ.
9. Factory 251
The famous Fac251 – formerly Factory Records, home of New Order and Joy Division – is back next week, with a week packed full of incredible events for fans to attend. Seven epic events are currently lined up, and you can get your tickets for as little as £5 right here. FAC251, 118 Princess St, M1 7EN.
10. White Hotel
Ready for 54 ½ hours of non-stop partying? The White Hotel will be hosting a huge event like no other next weekend, kicking off on 23rd July right through til 26th July. Expect round-the-clock partying, tons of live DJ sets, and some heavily party-deprived Mancs making the most of the three-day-long sesh. All tickets run into the next event for free, leaving it “to your own disgraced discretion when you want to back-door it”. Tickets here. The White Hotel, Dickinson St, Salford, M3 7LW.
11. Hidden Club
Launching their first party after 16 months away this Sunday, Hidden will open two rooms for Mancs to celebrate the big day as soon as the clock turns midnight on Freedom Day. Expect and a new and improved venue, tons of DJs, your typical Hidden MCR vibes, and of course, a night full of dancing. Hidden, 16-18 Mary St, Cheetham Hill, M3 1NH.
