The words “free pint” don’t get bandied around often here in Manchester, so when we get even a whisper of those magic words, we’re all ears. Now, FREE PINTS are coming to Manchester, courtesy of Peaky Blinders‘ own Tommy Shelby (kind of), so you’ll want to get down to The Rat & Pigeon next week to make the most of it.
So, “why?” you may ask. To mark the arrival of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, Netflix is partnering with ten independent pubs nationwide; with fans invited to their local to celebrate and raise a glass to Tommy Shelby.
When & how can I get a free pint?

From Thursday 26th to Saturday 28th March, ten independent pubs across the UK will celebrate the icon Tommy Shelby. Fans can claim a complimentary drink simply by using the legendary phrase: “By order of the Peaky Blinders”.
Each participating pub will embrace a 1940s Peaky Blinders-inspired theme, with limited-edition merchandise and flat caps up for grabs. Guests are welcome (but not required) to don their best Peaky-style outfits.
Don’t worry if you’re not a beer-drinker, the prize is limited to a beer, small house white, small house red or soft drink. Prizes are valued at a maximum of £6.
Keeping local pubs alive

A cornerstone of British culture and community, the concept of the ‘local‘ is central to Peaky Blinders. According to organisers, one pub a day disappeared for good in England and Wales during 2025 as sustained cost pressures continued to weigh heavily on the sector and Netflix is proud to support these regional answers to The Garrison, allowing fans to come together to toast the legend of Peaky.
What is Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man about?
Directed by Tom Harper and written by Steven Knight, who created and wrote the smash hit series, the film stars Academy Award-winner Cillian Murphy returning as Tommy Shelby with a cast that includes Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth and Sophie Rundle, with Barry Keoghan and Stephen Graham.
Set against a bombed 1940s Birmingham, the film follows the legendary Tommy Shelby as he returns from exile to reckon with the legacy of himself and the family.
Peaky fans from across the country are invited to celebrate the launch of The Immortal Man at their local pub between 26th and 28th March, enjoying their next round on Tommy Shelby.

The Rat & Pigeon pub history

Formerly Mother Mac’s, the Manchester pub stood the test of time, since first opening as a public house back in the 1870s, having most notably seen a gruesome massacre in 1976, when then-landlord Arthur Bradbury killed his wife, her three children and even the pub’s cleaner.
The pub was always oddly proud of of its macabre history, with a plaque detailing the brutal killings having been long-mounted on the wall outside, and newspaper clippings about the murders have been framed inside the pub. It spent 55 years as Mother Mac’s, even with the pub changing hands a few times along the way.
