We’re extremely proud of our pubs in Manchester, and we have some of the best and oldest ones around. So you can imagine our elation when a previous winner of the Rochdale, Oldham and Bury CAMRA Pub of the Year was announced as the winner or 2025… The Fox & Pine in Oldham was also named Pub of the Year in 2024, 2023, and 2022, and this gives us the perfect opportunity to pay it a visit.
The Branch covers the Metropolitan areas of Rochdale, Oldham and Bury, and is one of eight within the CAMRA Greater Manchester Region covering the Greater Manchester area. Small but perfectly formed, the Fox & Pine was formerly a derelict terraced house, and landlords Chris and Michelle bought the lease to the venue in May 2020, transforming it into the sleek yet traditional pub it is today.
In a short period of time, the pub has built up a strong reputation for its rotating selection of real ales, as well as its atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. The bar is located downstairs with an open seating area, whilst upstairs, punters can enjoy a drink in either of the two linked rooms.
Upon learning of the nomination, the Fox & Pine landlords said on social media: “We’re completely humbled. Today we’ve been voted Rochdale Oldham and Bury CAMRA Branch pub of the year for the fourth year running. A massive thank you to all our staff and locals. We might just have a wee celebratory drink tonight.”
The pub will now be judged by representatives from the other branches across Greater Manchester, as they meet up to decide who will win the Greater Manchester CAMRA Pub of the Year for 2025.
The CAMRA Pub of the Year is chosen by branch members in an annual vote, usually conducted online to enable as many branch members as possible to participate – the competition is restricted to the Rochdale, Oldham and Bury pubs which are in the current Good Beer Guide.
Members can vote for three borough Pubs of the Year – Rochdale, Oldham and Bury – plus an overall Branch pub of the year which goes on to the Regional competition and hopefully beyond – which is what the Fox & Pine has won. The results are usually announced at the March branch meeting with award presentations as soon as possible after – so, watch this space for any developments for the Fox & Pine.
