It might cost a small fortune to travel more than one stop, but catching a train has always reliably been the quickest way of getting around the UK. But, thanks to the upcoming launch of a new fast coach service from Manchester to Bristol, we’re starting to doubt everything we thought we knew… Oh, and tickets start from just £4.49.
Take a quick look at train journeys from Manchester to Bristol and you’ll see the trip could take anywhere from 3 to 3.5 hours (with a change in Birmingham too). Thanks to FlixBus, this new coach will rival these train times at a tenth of the cost. Travel between the two cities will take just three hours and a half hours.
The direct FlixBus coach service will begin on July 20 between Manchester Shudehill and Bristol city centre (adding Manchester Moss Lane to the FlixBus network for the first time too). The service will operate twice a day each way, daily. All services include free Wi-Fi, charging points, and “comfortable seating.”
“Sustainable, reliable, affordable, and fast transport for two of the most exciting cities in the country. Coach is the clear winner for comfort and convenience, so why choose anything else when travelling this summer?” said Andreas Schorling, Managing Director of FlixBus UK.
Why visit Bristol this summer?
The introduction of the new route falls slap-bang in the middle of Bristol’s biggest free festival (July 19 – 21). Bristol Harbour Festival will host a mix of host local musicians, circus acts, and on-the-water activities – such as cardboard boat races and jetpack stunts – for over one mile of entertainment. Meanwhile, the annual Bristol Balloon Fiesta will take place August 9 – 11. Discover the best things to do in Bristol here.
The new route will be delivered by FlixBus partner Belle Vue, based in Stockport, as part of an expansion of the Flix network. It follows the recent launch of a fast service between London, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. To learn more and to book tickets head here.
