1. Cadbury World
We can think of few outings that will earn you more brownie points with the kids than a trip to Cadbury World, and that’s why it’s top of our list of Easter holiday road trips. Open since 1990, Cadbury World has been the go-to attraction for chocolate lovers of all ages, for decades. 2. West Kirby beach
Having previously been named one of the best beaches in the UK, West Kirby’s 300m long bay is known for its sweeping views and scenic coastal walks. The beach is also lifeguarded so you can let the kids run around freely, and there’s ice cream, coffee shops and toilets nearby, with plenty more shops and restaurants in West Kirby itself – just minutes drive from the beach. Depending on the tide (information available on Dee Lane notice board), you can even explore the Hilbre Islands Local Nature Reserve, just 1km walk from the shore. Here you’ll find even more breathtaking panoramic views, all the way to North Wales and Wirral coastlines, and potentially even spot a colony of grey seals!

3. Sefton Park Palm House
Sefton Park Palm House is a stunning, Victoria Grade II* listed building, home to a remarkable array of botanicals from all over the world, including 20 varieties of palms and 23 varieties of orchid. The sights and smells you’ll encounter as you wander the grounds make for a truly magnificent sensory experience, with so much to learn about their important uses in the medicines, fibres and foods we use today. When it’s time to pause for a snack, you’ll find plenty of delicious options in the Palm House cafe. And as you explore the gardens, you’ll also find a lifesize chess board, perfect for a family tournament.
