Nothing says summer quite like a stunning stretch of blooming sunflowers (well, that and a good beer garden). Luckily, Dunham Massey is home to one of the most spectacular sunflower fields around, offering the perfect spot to soak up those golden, feel-good summer vibes.
What to expect in the fields
Whether you’re looking for the ultimate summer holiday family outing or just a beautiful walk, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained. New last year, a stunning wildflower meadow is included with your entry, bursting with vibrant colours, sweet scents, and local wildlife.
You can discover ten different sunflower varieties, revealing rare and unique forms of this classic bloom alongside the new wildflowers. To keep the little ones busy, there is a dedicated floral scavenger hunt. Plus, you can even take the magic home with you, as freshly cut flowers from the very same field are available to purchase during your visit.
Food & drink at the farm
The sunflower field is set on the grounds of Dunham Massey Farm Ice Cream, meaning you won’t be short on tasty treats to keep you refreshed. Their farm-fresh ice cream is made right on the premises using milk from their own grazing cows, featuring unique flavours like White Chocolate & Oreo, Caramac, and Custard Cream!
If you need a proper refuel, you can head inside the charming old barn for hot drinks, pizzas, and toasties. Feel free to catch some rays at the outdoor picnic tables, or cosy up indoors if the weather turns.
Need-to-know details
The farm is predicting a late-July opening this year, and the flowers are expected to stay in bloom until early September, so there is still plenty of time to plan your visit.
Once open, the field opens daily at 10am, with the cafe and parlour opening shortly after at 10:30am. There is no booking required—simply turn up on the day and enjoy!
