Calling all dog lovers!
It’s hard to believe that there are dogs out there that patiently wait for a loving home for even a month, let alone 500 days. But that’s just how long it’s been since five-year-old Labrador Collie Cross Charlie has been in DogsTrust Manchester’s care. Launching an appeal for a ‘forever home’ for the ‘adorable’ boy, DogsTrust Manchester is desperately seeking a loving family to take in the lovely pup – who has first admitted into their care back in October 2019.
Known by the team as ‘Cheeky Charlie’, the patient pup has found himself become the longest-term resident of the Manchester-based re-homing centre – seeing thousands of his buddies come and go along the way. Charlie has been adopted twice, however, both times were ‘not meant to be’.
Now, the team are hoping it’s third time lucky – and are making a special appeal to find him a family to join. Described as compatible for an adult family who loves long walks, Charlie is looking for a child-free home with a predictable routine to settle into, where he’ll be able to thrive in his new, calm surroundings after over a year and a half at the re-homing centre.
Dawn Bishop, Dogs Trust Manchester Manager, says: “Charlie is an adorable but anxious boy so we are looking for a very patient and loving home for him. He is truly part of the Dogs Trust family but what we really want is for him to have a home and family of his own.
“We provide lifelong behavioural support for all of our adopted dogs over the phone or in 1-2-1 sessions to help make sure they can live their best life together with their family. Thanks to the players of People’s Postcode Lottery whose support helps to fund our post-adoption work, we will always be here to help if Charlie or his family need support.”
Adding: “Charlie loves fetching a tennis ball and he is really clever so picks up new things quickly in return for a tasty treat. He thoroughly enjoys travelling in the car so will be an ideal companion for owners who like to get away from it all to the quiet of the countryside for lovely long walks.
“He will take time to build a bond with new owners but once you have that trust he is very affectionate and loves to cuddle up, which is adorable.
“Charlie has come on in leaps and bounds since coming to us and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for him in his forever home. He truly is one of a kind and has bags of potential. He will make a loving and rewarding pet for owners who are willing to take the time to work with him, and we will be by their side every step of the way.”
While the centre is currently closed to the public under lockdown restrictions, those interested in finding a pup to adopt can find out more and enquire about gorgeous Charlie here.
