Following major success at GRUB MCR and Liverpool’s Kazimier Garden, as well as popping up at Sadler’s Cat, Desert Island Dumplings is set to kick off yet another residency, bringing their delicious vegan-fusion dumplings to Ancoats. After serving crispy and delicious dumplings this summer at the NOMA-based kitchen located within the community-built pub run by Cloudwater Brew Co, Desert Island Dumplings is venturing over to Ancoats General Store this autumn.
Known for their unconventional dumplings made with a plant-based twist, Desert Island Dumplings has created some seriously delicious fusion flavours, ranging from ‘Cheezburger’, Smokey ‘Cheez’ Pizza, Hoisin Mock Duck, Salt and Pepper ‘Chikn’ and Lobster. The tasty treats are served alongside an array of sides, including chips with ‘cheez’ and gravy, salt and pepper hashbrowns and ‘drunk’ Teriyaki noodles, as well as delicious dessert dumplings stuffed with lemon drizzle and Lotus banoffee.
Kicking off their residency at Ancoats General Store from October 31st, guests can expect a new and equally creative (as well as tasty) breakfast menu served up until 11.30am daily. Sample flavours such as scrambled tofu, potato and meat-free chorizo or fried breakfast which includes garlic mushrooms, bacon, sausage, hash brown and ‘cheezy’ beans, all wrapped up in crispy fried dumplings.
Plus, you can start they day with more breakfast-inspired dumplings with their new and intriguing overnight blueberry oat dumplings. Desert Island Dumplings will also be serving up breakfast baps and plenty of hash brown options to feast on- choose from the likes of deep fried hash browns with dip, salt and pepper hash browns with dip, hash browns slathered with ‘cheezy’ beans or hash brown poutine (mature vegan cheese, gravy and crispy onions doused on hash browns).
And from 11.30am, their lunch menu consists of noteworthy savoury dumplings as well as new additions like Shawarma Kebab and ‘Chikn’ Tikka. The Ancoats General Store pop-up will also be slinging out soups, salads, loaded chips and drunk udon noodles and plenty of combos in order to sample a little bit of everything.
