As the new year thunders on, we’re starting to think about the lighter days, when the kids get some time off and the sun at least tries to rear its head. Now, to keep the whole family entertained in intervals throughout the year, Thomas the Tank Engine is set to make a welcome return to the East Lancashire Railway (ELR), with the much-loved Day Out With Thomas.
Hop onboard a train ride with Thomas – a real steam engine – and enjoy a whole day of excitement and education on the ELR. Families can look forward to:
- Watch the exciting live shows with Sodor Station Sweepers Rusty and Dusty
- Join in the Thomas and Friends character hunt
- Have fun with garden games
- Keep the beat going at the Music Corner packed with music-inspired fun.
What is the structure of Day Out With Thomas?
Day Out With Thomas on the ELR starts with the timed entry on your ticket – join the crew at Bury Bolton Street Station up to 45 minutes in advance, giving just enough time to build up lots of excitement!
You’ll meet Sir Topham Hatt at the Station, say hello to Thomas on the platform and then climb aboard a carriage. Thomas will pull your train through the amazing countryside on a fun-filled journey to Ramsbottom Station.
Once one of the dazzling diesel trains brings you and Thomas back to Bury, you’ll find Bury Transport Museum and more Thomas & Friends themed activities, including performances by Rusty and Dusty – Sodor Station Sweepers. There’s also face painting, games and four funfair rides suitable for toddlers.
