Costa Coffee has opened its first-ever store inside a Cineworld cinema, with the new branch launching in Greater Manchester.
It is the first site in a planned rollout that will bring Costa to up to 26 Cineworld locations across the UK.
Movie-goers can now pick up Costa’s full range of hot and iced drinks, including its signature Mocha Italia blend, as well as toasties and sweet snacks.
The store is designed as a place to relax before a film or debrief afterwards, with modern Costa styling and comfortable seating.
Costa Coffee opens its first-ever cinema store in Ashton-under-Lyne
The Ashton-under-Lyne store serves the usual Costa Coffee menu, from flat whites and lattes to iced drinks, alongside a small food offer of toasties and sweet treats. It has a team of up to 12 baristas, including colleagues who have moved across to Costa as part of the opening.
Cineworld Unlimited members will also get 10% off at Costa stores inside Cineworld cinemas when they show their card at the counter.
Opening weekend celebrations this weekend
To mark the launch, Costa and Cineworld are hosting a weekend of celebrations on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October.
Customers can try complimentary Costa Coffee samples across both days, while a prize wheel on Saturday will offer the chance to win Costa and Cineworld merchandise, gift cards and at-home coffee products.
Andrew Miller, Express and Corporate Sales Director UK&I at Costa Coffee, said: “Today’s opening is a significant milestone as we bring Costa Coffee to Cineworld cinemas for the very first time.” He added that the Ashton store is “just the beginning” of a wider rollout for movie-goers across the UK.
Tim Sparrow, Retail Director at Cineworld, described the partnership as an “exciting new chapter”, saying the addition of Costa is part of the cinema chain’s ongoing effort to improve the guest experience from arrival through to the film itself.
More Costa-in-Cineworld to follow
The next Costa-in-Cineworld opening is scheduled for Broughton Park on Wednesday 28 October. Further locations are planned in Glasgow, Sheffield and Birmingham as part of the nationwide expansion.
The move follows Costa’s agreement to replace Starbucks at selected Cineworld sites, with most of the new stores expected to open by the end of 2026.
