Calling all Corrie fans, as ITV has announced some juicy news with the launch of the brand new Coronation Street Experience. From June 10, the world’s longest running soap will open its doors even wider with the launch of this new tour experience in Manchester, with plenty of features to fully immerse yourself in the world of the iconic cobbled, terraced street.
The recently opened visitor centre has been home to the programme’s tours for the past few months and is now fully developed into a one stop shop for every Corrie fan giving access to replica sets, historic props, iconic costumes and of course the Corrie ‘shop’. The 90-minute tour of the Coronation Street set has been hugely popular since it launched in 2014, attracting fans not just from the UK but from all over the world.
Neil Currie, Guest Experience Manager said: “We know that fans of Coronation Street want to get up close to some of the props and sets that they see on screen, be it Deirdre’s infamous glasses, or inside The Rovers Return.”
Open seven days a week, the new exhibition gives everyone the opportunity to take a seat in ‘Roy’s Rolls’, the cafe owned by Roy Cropper in the television series. Plus, visitors can stand behind the bar at ‘The Rovers’ as well as see iconic costumes and props from over 6o years of drama. The new exhibition floor will complement the tour, alongside a cinema, café and retail space, creating the perfect Coronation Street Experience.
Neil Currie, Guest Experience Manager, added: “Having this kind of exhibition floor also gives us the chance to constantly update and change things alongside the programme’s on air stories, once a storyline has played out on your TV screen, we’ll be updating the props and costumes along the way. We’re thrilled to be able to offer fans of Coronation Street an even more immersive experience with the launch of the Coronation Street Experience and can’t wait for our first guests to arrive.”
In addition to the replica sets and original props, the tour itself has also evolved to include access to new sets such as Weatherfield Precinct, letting visitors discover even more secrets from their expert tour guides. Tickets for the Coronation Street Experience are available here, and visitors are encouraged to book online to avoid disappointment.
