We’ve already seen a stark plummet in temperature, given the strangely mild November we were having, but now the second half of the month is set to be quite the change. Our minds are set on Christmas once again, and to add to the festivities, is snow coming early to Greater Manchester?

Finally we’re experience crisp, sunny autumn days at around 5ºC, but come Wednesday and Thursday, we’re looking at lows of around -2ºC in Greater Manchester. The forecast for this week according to the Met Office is as follows:
Today (November 19)
A chilly start with icy stretches on untreated surfaces. Early cloud clearing, leaving the region with a largely dry and sunny day. Feeling cold despite this, particularly when exposed to the brisk northerly winds. Maximum temperature 5 °C.
Staying dry overnight with mostly clear skies, allowing for a widespread frost to develop. Winds easing slightly but still rather blustery around coasts and hills. Minimum temperature -5 °C.
Thursday (20 November)
Another cold but dry day with plenty of sunny spells. Less of a wind-chill effect than Wednesday, with the breeze moderating throughout the day. Widely frosty again overnight. Maximum temperature 5 °C.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday
Staying dry but cold on Friday with further sunshine. A change this weekend as it turns more unsettled with rain moving in, but also with temperatures increasing slightly.
Met Office yellow weather warning
The Met Office has also issued a yellow weather warning for ice on Wednesday in Greater Manchester, with snow and ice warnings for much of the country. The warning turns amber for the North Sea coast on Thursday, with a yellow warning covering the stretch from Hull almost up to Edinburgh, and the area north of Dundee in Scotland.

The temperature is still set to plummet in Greater Manchester, so do still be aware of snow and ice, and be prepared before you travel or go walking out and about this week.
Which Greater Manchester areas will see snow this week?
According to WX Charts, Saturday 22 November is set to bring snow to Greater Manchester.
A front of precipitation from the west will bring a covering of snow over north and east parts of Greater Manchester, spreading up into Lancashire, Yorkshire and down into Staffordshire and Stoke, from 6am. The snow then peters out to the east, and we should see temperatures rise again.
Do keep an eye on your local weather forecast, and check before you travel on particularly cold and snowy days.
