Opening back in 2019, the neighbourhood’s resident chocolatiers really is heaven on Earth. Originating in West Didsbury, Cocoa Cabana knows exactly what we want from afternoon tea and serves up one of the best in the game – with guests entering a sugary paradise when they walk through their Murray Street doors.
The afternoon tea cuts straight to the chase with all the good stuff you could possibly think of. Costing just £29 per person, guests are treated to a selection of finger sandwiches, brownies, mousses, chocolate tarts, bonbons, scones, macarons, and hot drinks – all top off with a pot of salted caramel. I’m salivating at the thought.
If you’re feeling extra naughty, you can opt for Cocoa Cabana’s signature hot chocolate, with flavours including Nutella, chocolate orange, peanut butter, white chocolate or dark caramel.
But it’s not just the food that was made in chocolate heaven, their cocktails were too! The menu features sweet options such as a chocolate espresso martini and a dark chocolate and chilli daiquiri, with other twists on classic cocktails including their matcha and avocado Pina Colada.
The cafe was founded by Sarah Gallacher, a chocolate pro who trained at the famous Slattery’s Patissier and Chocolatiers, and has since won countless awards for her sweet-tasting, handmade creations. It’s safe to say if anyone knows good chocolate, it’s Sarah!
A range of artisan chocolates and truffles are available to purchase from their beautifully presented chocolate counter, all handpainted with edible paints for a beautiful finish. The chocolates are available to purchase as gifts or to takeaway, along with a selection of aesthetically pleasing baked treats such as cake slices and cupcakes.
For those who prefer their sugar after a savoury dish, the cafe also offers up a selection of toasties, bagels and pancakes – as well as fresh cakes and bakes to choose from. Daily vegan options are available too.
If that wasn’t tasty enough already, Cocoa Cabana doesn’t just hang up their hat at 5pm. When your sugar rush is done and gone, the cafe turns into an elegant cocktail bar, with a delicious selection of cocktails, craft beers and of course, gin. Plus, their fabulous mascot, Frank the sausage dog, frequents their Ancoats location to enjoy a few scratches with the guests. He’s enough to melt your chocolately heart!
