Let’s be real, one thing we really do love in the north is a pasty – or a pie, depending on your persuasion – and one place that’s renowned for some of the absolute best is Bolton‘s own Carrs Pasties. Producing some of the region’s finest for over 80 years, Carrs Pasties is a household name not just in Bolton, but all around the North West, and now the iconic brand is expanding outside of its birthplace, into neighbouring Bury.
The expansion was announced back in December 2025, but now a location has officially been announced for the brand new Carrs Pasties Bury Bakehouse, and it’s all becoming real.
Announcing the expansion in December, Carrs Pasties posted on social media: “Bury, get ready! Carrs Pasties at Bury Bakehouse will be opening in Bury Town Centre in January 2026.”

Since then, it has been confirmed that the Carrs Pasties Bury Bakehouse will open in the Mill Gate Shopping Centre this month, just next door to the Post Office – so you can get your posting and depositing done, and finish with a steaming hot pasty.
The family-run bakery has been going since 1938, when it first opened a shop on Halliwell Road (which is still going strong today), and it had mill workers queueing around the block to get their pasty fix.

The pasty is the closest thing Boltonians have to a regional delicacy, and although the Cornish pasty is often the more famous sister, Bolton’s underdog is so much more versatile and is perfect for nibbling whilst mooching around town. Passed down through three generations, what sets Carrs Pasties apart is that throughout their time running as a business they consistently produce tasty pasties with golden, buttery, flaky pastry with plenty of pride in what they do. It’s comfort food on the go.
Further details on the opening date for the Carrs Pasties Bury Bakehouse are expected in the coming weeks, but we imagine that whenever the opening happens, it’s set to be booked and busy.
