Jill Scott has achieved many things in her lifetime like winning the European championship this year as part of the England women’s football team and as of recently, she was crowned the winner of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here. Besides being queen of the jungle, England’s second-most capped international footballer and captain of England’s Soccer Aid team for 2023 , Jill Scott is also co-owner of coffee shop Boxx2Boxx, nestled in the Manchester area of Northenden, Wythenshawe.
Opening the coffee shop back in April 2021 with fiancée Shelly Unitt, Boxx2Boxx is named after Jill’s infamous role as a box-to-box midfielder throughout her illustrious football career for club and country. The interior of the cafe on Palatine Road also gives nods to how Scott approaches both her roles as a footballer and business owner with a neon sign saying ‘striding for perfection’.
Boxx2Boxx is also decorated with a gorgeously green plant wall bringing a bit of nature indoors to the Greater Manchester coffee shop- perhaps it prepared the Sunderland-born footballer and owner for the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here jungle? The coffee shop also boasts memorabilia, a wall of fame and a mural of football star Jill Scott with the phrase ‘fuelled by coffee’, as well as comfy sofas and a tube map featuring famous footballers to celebrate 150 years of the Football Association.
The cafe’s freshly brewed coffee can be enjoyed inside the cafe, on its roadside terrace for a catch-up on drier days and for takeaway, making it a perfect coffee to-go as you wander through nearby Wythenshawe Park. To accompany all of the cafe’s teas, coffees, hot chocolate, flavoured lattes and ice cold drinks is an ever-changing selection of sweet treats on the counter including brownies, cookies, rocky road, cupcakes, blondies, loaf cakes and cookie pies. To kick start the day Boxx2Boxx also serves up bacon rolls, toasted sandwiches and pastries and after Jill’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here appearance there have also been some requests for hot banana water…
And it’s not just the coffee and bakes you need to look out for! Many famous faces from the sporting world have been known to pop in and visit Jill’s coffee shop for a caffeine fix including fellow Lionesses Leah Williamson, Ella Toone and Steph Houghton, England’s most-capped international footballer Fara Williams and Manchester City and England midfielder Phil Foden.
Boxx2Boxx also hosts several events such as Wednesday walks and board game nights, with the odd appearances from Shelly Unitt and Jill Scott.
