A Twinkling Christmas Market Will Take Place At MediaCityUK This Weekend

By Laura Rogan December 10, 2020

The perfect opportunity to shop local this Christmas.

Popping up for one weekend only while Greater Manchester remains in tier 3, Box on the Docks at MediaCityUK will showcase a number of local, small independents this weekend – with a variety of gorgeous gifts that’ll be perfect for Christmas.

Taking place on both Saturday and Sunday, the public art display has invited along their artists, giving guests the opportunity to meet the faces behind the boxes, but also purchase unique pieces of art, jewellery, ceramics and more.

The boxes and sheds were used as private dining huts over the summer, with restaurants expected to return for foodie pop-ups should Manchester level down to tier 3. But making the most of the vacancy while we patiently wait for that day, ‘Box on the Docks: Unwrapped’ will put on a festive display, with installations, soundscapes, experiential boxes, a whole lot of art to see and a twinkling garden and piazza to explore, too.

Josie Cahill, Director of Place for MediaCityUK said: “Box on the Docks: Unwrapped continues to support local artists and works well alongside the Makers’ Market where people can safely browse, soak up the festive atmosphere as well as support local and independent traders. So, wrap up warm, and head down to MediaCity this weekend to enjoy street food at the Makers’ Market, meet talented artists and admire the Christmas lights.”
