… Because there’s a new kid on the block – and they’re levelling up the classic breakfast butty, and then some. Brought to us by our pals over in Liverpool, Bold Street Coffee has become a cult favourite since its 2010 inception in Scouseland, and now, they’re dipping their toes out of their homeland for the first time ever – right here in friendly Manchester.
Opening on the city centre’s Cross Street (making a bold change from the Northern Quarter, for once), the coffee shop has made quite a name for itself as a speciality coffee shop, meaning caffeine slaves won’t be disappointed by the award-winning independent’s selection of classic coffees and teas (puppachinos included!), which is served alongside their selection of cold brews and delicious softs.
But it’s the breakfast sarnies – or Buoys, as BSC calls them – that really steal the show. Perfectly sandwiched between a brioche bun, guests can dig into the coffee shop’s breakfast staple, with fillings such as sausage, bacon, scrambled egg and cheese available to devour between those sweet, sweet buns.
Neighbouring new dive bar Salt Dog Slim’s, the coffee shop also serves up egg boxes, fry ups, stuff on toast (as we like to call it), proper butties on granary bread, a healthier porridge and smoothie bowls, too.
Open Monday-Saturday 8am-6pm and Sundays 9am-5pm, guests can visit Bold Street Coffee to kick back and relax with a warming brew and a fresh donut, or fill up on their delightful menu which is served til 4pm. BSC is open now at 53 Cross Street, M2 4JN (formerly Caffe Nero).
