Berghaus is opening its first standalone store at Manchester Arndale on Wednesday 26 August, marking a major milestone for the British outdoor brand after more than 60 years of equipping adventurers across the world.
The new space goes far beyond a traditional retail store, serving as a dedicated gateway to the outdoors and a dynamic community hub. Rooted in the brand’s northern heritage, the venue is designed to foster connection through interactive community events, specialist expertise and shared adventures. It is also home to Repairhaus, Berghaus’s circularity initiative where the team repairs well‑loved gear free of charge.
Berghaus opening week programme
To mark the opening, Berghaus will host a week‑long programme of events celebrating the people, places and communities that make the North West’s outdoor scene special. From community walks and local partnerships to crisp sandwiches and four‑legged visitors, the programme reflects the spirit of the new space and the people it is built for.
Wednesday 26 August | Grand Opening | From 9am
The opening begins with a ribbon‑cutting ceremony hosted by co‑founder Peter Lockey, legendary British mountaineer and longstanding Berghaus ambassador Sir Chris Bonington, and ambassador and adventurer Ed Jackson. The first 50 visitors will receive a complimentary Berghaus backpack filled with branded gifts, with one guest also finding a Berghaus Trango Jacket inside. Throughout the morning, Manchester’s CROP Radio will provide live DJ sets from inside the store.
Friday 28 August | CROP Radio DJ Takeover
CROP Radio returns with an evening of DJ sets showcasing emerging female artists from Manchester. Visitors can explore the new space while enjoying complimentary drinks as the store becomes a community celebration.
Saturday 29 August | Bada Bing Crisp Sandwich Pop Up
To celebrate the opening, Berghaus has partnered with Manchester favourite Bada Bing to serve 50 limited‑edition crisp sandwiches on a first‑come, first‑served basis.
Sunday 30 August | City Daze Community Walk
As part of City Daze’s launch into Manchester, Berghaus will host its first city walk. Beginning at the Manchester Arndale store, the inclusive walk will explore the city through an outdoor lens. The first 50 participants will receive complimentary Berghaus products, with refreshments provided back at the store.
Monday 31 August | BarkHaus Pawloroid Day
Dogs have always been welcome at Berghaus, and Monday’s celebrations are dedicated to four‑legged adventurers. Visitors are encouraged to bring their dogs for complimentary treats and the chance to feature on the Berghaus Pawloroid Wall of Fame.
