The team behind the award-winning restaurant Higher Ground and wine bar Flawd has announced it will be opening a new seafood and listening bar in Manchester. Known as Bar Shrimp, the Manchester bar will be serving up “considered cocktails”, beers on tap, British seafood and snacks with “world-class sound”.
Set to open in Manchester city centre (an exact location to be confirmed) in winter 2025, Bar Shrimp aims to be an extension of the ethos found at their current Manchester venues, offering a relaxed and focused bar with delicious food.
In a statement, the Bar Shrimp team said: “Whether it’s a beer after work, some food with friends or after dinner drinks late into the night, Bar Shrimp will be a dynamic space where the music and energy evolves throughout the evening where everyone and anyone can come together for a memorable experience.”
Higher Ground, which opened on the edge of Manchester’s Chinatown in 2023, was founded by Daniel Craig Martin, Joseph Otway and Richard Cossins and has achieved accolades such as joining the Michelin Guide and receiving a Bib Gourmand last year and named one of the best local restaurants in the North West, so we can certainly expect great things for new Manchester opening Bar Shrimp.
The team also opened wine bar, Flawd, on Islington Marina in 2021, as well as establishing the Cinderwood market garden in Cheshire, which supplies both Higher Ground and Flawd as well as other Manchester restaurants.
