Ballet of Lights: bringing Peter Pan to Manchester
“Ballet of Lights” is a shortened version of the two-hour Peter Pan ballet adaptation that incorporates optical fibres into the dancers’ costumes to enhance their emotions and movement. Over the course of 60 minutes, six ballet dancers light up the stage with glowing ensembles, casting a new light on the acclaimed music school on Oxford Road. Using a set of props, the main characters dance and dream, fight pirates and play with mermaids and the Lost Boys.
Peter Pan told through light, music, and dance
Whether it’s a Tchaikovsky masterpiece or a romantic ballet like Coppélia composed by Léo Delibes, some of the world’s most famous ballets portray dreamlike fairy tales and myths, which is why J. M. Barrie’s Peter Pan is the perfect story to be adapted into a ballet.
“Ballet of Lights” captures the soul of the Scottish writer’s most famous work—the longing for adventure, the fear of growing up and the realisation that imagination never leaves us, no matter how old we are. He once wrote, “dreams do come true, if only we wish hard enough”. Well, it seems you did wish hard enough because this magical ballet performance is now lighting up Manchester.
If you’re hooked on adventure, join Peter, Tinker Bell and Wendy at “Ballet of Lights” in Manchester, a must-see performance this season. With two back-to-back shows scheduled for 18:00 and 20:30, you can choose the one that best fits your schedule.
