Last month, we had the sad news that much-loved restaurant Almost Famous would be closing its doors to its Northern Quarter venue on High Street, however not all is lost as the burger joint is back, but at a brand new site in the area. Now located on Edge Street, at the venue which was until recently home to brunch restaurant and dessert haven Home Sweet Home, rebranded as HomeSweet, Almost Famous is slinging their juicy, dripping-with-sauce burgers once again.
Opening during the first week of August, not only has Almost Famous launched a new site but it has also introduced some new Northern Quarter exclusive additions to their menu. Posting to Instagram, Almost Famous wrote: “NQ – we’re back, better + juicer than ever. We left our OG hangout and we’re now making magic on Edge Street. We’re open everyday from 12 – with two NQ exclusive menu items to make the place even more special than the last…”
Visitors to their Edge Street branch can tuck into a double juicy cheeseburger called Unabomber, featuring chorizo, wonderdusted waffle fries, crispy jalapeños, cholula, bacon mayo, jalapeño mustard, jalapeños & onions., which sounds like quite the fiery one.
In addition to their Northern Quarter exclusive burger, Almost Famous has launched “Icy Bitch”, what the restaurant describes as “our kinda breakfast smoothie” and is made from gin, dark fruits, citrus flavours and tonic. Taking its famous ‘Bitch juice’ and freezing it to create “the ultimate squishee style brain freeze worthy drink”.
At the end of July, Almost Famous closed down their original Northern Quarter branch with a blow out party, in which they gave away a £5000 Banksy print that had hung on the wall in the venue in a treasure hunt.
You can now find Almost Famous at 49-51 Edge Street, M4 1HW, as well as Great Northern Warehouse, Peter Street, M3 4EJ.
