This Morning host Alison Hammond is no stranger to starring in TV shows as a celebrity contestant, having appeared on Big Brother, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Strictly Come Dancing, and even the celebrity edition of the Great British Bake Off for Stand Up 2 Cancer.
However, the baking show has now confirmed that she will be returning to the famed tent as a co-presenter on the show. She’ll join Noel Fielding, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, to host the next series of the Great British Bake Off on Channel 4.
The television show revealed the news this morning on social media showing a model cake version of the GBBO baking kitchen with the judges and hosts including Alison Hammond, with the star announcing her arrival onto the programme with “breaking news”.
The internet is generally fond of the choice, with excitement brimming all over social media. One fan said: “If it’s true, our Brummie Bab @AlisonHammond is going to be chaotically great hosting Bake Off alongside @noelfielding11. I can hear this photo as soon as I see it. What an icon.”
Another said: “Alison Hammond as new co-host of The Great British Bake Off is perfection! Can’t wait for more iconic moments like the time she thought she had lost the oven door!”
Even former Pointless presenter Richard Osman chimed in with his thoughts: “Alison Hammond as new ‘Bake Off’ host is the perfect booking. What a great choice.”
Matt Lucas released a statement last year to say that he’d be leaving the show after three series. He spoke fondly of his experience, and said he’d be “cheerfully passing the baguette on to someone else”.
