Afflecks, Manchester’s ever-popular independent shopping emporium, is getting ready for some spooktacular celebrations this Halloween, with plenty of spine-tingling activities happening to get everyone in the spooky spirit. The iconic building is bringing a host of hair-raising activities, haunting experiences and special treats to town from Monday 21 October.
The iconic 180 year old building will be transformed into a Halloween experience, designed to showcase all things witchy and wonderful. With special events taking place throughout the week, there is something for the whole family to enjoy.
Visitors can sink their teeth into the following activities:

Spooky sketching: A unique, free life drawing session hosted by independent artists at Avante Garms, 2-4pm on Tuesday 22 October. DM the Avante Garms team on Instagram to book.

Friday Night Sounds: See live music bring hauntingly good music to life next to the Third Floor Rising cafe and Vinyl Resting Place as you shop on Friday 25 October.

Spellcasting: Running all day long on Saturday 26 October at Occult. No booking needed – just head up to the shop to cast your spell!

Ghoulish Glam Make Up Masterclass: Running at 11am, 12pm and 1pm on Saturday 26 October on the 1st floor. Book your free spot here.

Witches Broom Workshop: Join Jamie’s Jungle on Sunday 27 October at Third Floor Rising and design your own 20 inch witches broom. Book your place for £45 via Instagram DM.

Sunday Speed Dating: A free of charge, speed dating event to give queer singletons the best chance of love this October. Hosted by Desert Island Dumplings and running from 12-5pm. For more information, and to book, DM the team.

Animaid‘s horror event activity series: Running from 12 – 31 October, Animaid will be providing horror-filled fun with a costume contest, cupcake decorating, a murder mystery set, and spooky prizes up for grabs.
Visitors can also enjoy a fang-tastic lineup of eerie eats throughout Friday 25 October, crafted by the talented traders at Afflecks. Seasonal specials on offer will include a wickedly-fun collection of milkshakes and desserts at Animaid Cafe, as well as delicious pumpkin spiced lattes, spiced pumpkin soup and ghoulish brownies from Third Floor Rising cafe.
Afflecks will also once again be the spookiest place to shop in Manchester with spine-chilling decorations and Halloween-themed offers from traders all week long. From a costume and accessory collection to die for at American Graffiti and Modern Streets horror movie themed t-shirt designs, to handmade jewellery at Sour Cherry, spooky season fanatics will be able to find everything they need for their ghoulish parties under one roof. And, with Noff and Nanna offering costumes for canine companions too, shoppers can make sure that every member of the family is fully kitted-out in haunting attire.
