Following the release of their brand new documentary series, Celebrating David Hockney, Sky Arts is set to host a fun and free art class next week in Manchester, helping art lovers unleash their inner artiste in celebration of the iconic British painter.
Artist Michelle Taube will host a workshop at the Sky Up Hub in Stockport – which will bring tons of inspiration for guests to soak up during the session.

At the free-to-attend session, guests will step into the shoes of David Hockney, using plenty of colour to test out an array of mediums – including collage, pastels, paints, and pencils. All levels of ability are welcomed to the session, and it kicks off next week, on September 30 – with all materials provided.
Hosting the Manchester workshop will be local artist Michelle Taube, whose interest lies in using colour and observational paintings, will be instructing participants on how to create Hockney-inspired plant paintings. So all you plant parents, of which we know for a fact there are many, come along and get your skill on!
It’s set to be the perfect way to tap into your creative side, and maybe even spark up a new hobby while you’re there. Budding artists can book their space here, but keep checking back for availability as slots open in intervals.
The David Hockney art class is all thanks to Sky Up, launched by Sky in 2022. Its ambition is help people fulfil their potential by providing support to a quarter of a million digitally excluded people through a dedicated £10m fund. The David Hockney art class is therefore also in partnership with Age UK Stockport.

Workshops will also be taking place in other locations in the UK, including Hockney’s hometown of Bradford, London and Glasgow.
Celebrating David Hockney is available to watch on Sky and NOW.
